Decided and assumed
Decided: your current basic pay, the 7th CPC pay levels, DA of 60% and HRA of 30%, 20% or 10%. Assumed: the fitment factor, DA and HRA after the revision, and that your pay is set at exactly basic × factor. The real figure will be fitted into a new pay matrix and could be slightly higher.
An estimate from assumptions, not the 8th Pay Commission's decision. Leaves out transport allowance, tax and deductions. As of October 2026.

How to use the 8th Pay Commission calculator
- Pick your pay level or type your basic pay. Use the basic pay on your latest pay slip. Choosing a level fills in its entry pay.
- Choose your city class. X, Y or Z decides your HRA rate now and after the revision.
- Pick a fitment factor. Try the presets that are often discussed, or type your own. None of them is official.
- Check the assumptions. DA now (60%), DA after the revision (0%) and the new HRA rate are all editable.
What's decided and what isn't (October 2026)
Decided: the Union Cabinet approved setting up the 8th Central Pay Commission in January 2025 and its Terms of Reference on 28 October 2025, with Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai as chair and 18 months to report. DA is 60% of basic pay from 1 January 2026, approved in April 2026. Current HRA is 30%, 20% or 10%.
Not decided: the fitment factor, the new pay matrix and minimum pay, the date the new pay takes effect, and the DA and HRA rates after the revision. Employee bodies have asked for factors well above 2.57; others expect something close to 2. Treat every number as a scenario.
How the estimate is worked out
Revised basic pay = current basic pay × fitment factor, rounded to the nearest rupee. DA and HRA are then percentages of the revised basic. Today's pay is basic + DA at 60% + HRA at the current rate (not less than ₹5,400, ₹3,600 or ₹1,800).
In a real revision, each employee is placed in the new pay matrix at the cell equal to or just above basic × factor, so actual pay can be a little higher than this estimate. Transport allowance, other allowances, tax, NPS and other deductions are not included.

Frequently asked questions
Has the 8th Pay Commission fitment factor been decided?
No. As of October 2026 the commission, chaired by Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, is still taking views and has not reported. Its Terms of Reference, approved on 28 October 2025, give it 18 months from its constitution, so the report is expected around 2027. Any figure you read is a forecast or a union demand.
What is a fitment factor?
The number your current basic pay is multiplied by to get the new basic pay. The 7th Pay Commission used 2.57, which turned the old minimum of ₹7,000 into ₹18,000 (₹17,990, rounded up in the pay matrix).
Why does a fitment factor of 1.92 not mean a 92% raise?
Because dearness allowance is folded into the new basic pay and restarts at zero. With DA at 60%, you already get 1.60 times your basic as basic plus DA, so a factor of 1.60 changes nothing. A factor of 1.92 is 1.92 ÷ 1.60 = 1.20, a 20% real raise on basic plus DA.
When will the 8th Pay Commission be implemented?
The date isn't decided. It is widely expected to apply from 1 January 2026, ten years after the 7th CPC, with arrears paid once the government accepts the report. That date is an assumption, not an order.
What happens to HRA?
Under the 7th CPC, HRA started at 24%, 16% and 8% of basic for X, Y and Z cities and rose to 30%, 20% and 10% once DA crossed 50%. The calculator assumes the new rates start at 24%, 16% and 8% again; change them if you expect different.
