How to extract pages from a PDF

  1. Add your PDF. Drop it on the box or choose it. You'll see a preview of every page.
  2. Select pages. Click the pages to keep, or type them in Pages to extract, for example 1-3, 7. Shift-click selects every page between two clicks.
  3. Choose one file or separate files. One PDF puts all selected pages together. Separate PDFs saves each page as its own file, delivered in one zip.
  4. Extract. Press Extract pages and the download starts.

File names

A single extracted page is named after the original and its page number, such as report-page-7.pdf. Several pages in one file become report-extracted.pdf. With Separate PDFs you get report-pages.zip containing report-page-1.pdf, report-page-2.pdf and so on, numbered by their place in the original.

Tips

Need images instead? PDF to JPG saves pages as pictures, for slides or social posts.

Keep most pages? When you want everything except a few pages, Delete PDF pages means less clicking.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between extracting and splitting?

Extract takes the pages you pick and saves them, either together in one PDF or one PDF per page. Split cuts the whole document into parts by ranges or page count. To grab a few pages, extract is quicker.

In what order are the extracted pages?

In their original order. If you select pages 9, 2 and 5, the new PDF has 2, 5, 9. To put them in another order, extract them and then use Reorder PDF pages.

Is the original file changed?

No. The extracted pages are copied into a new file. Your original PDF stays exactly as it is.

Is anything uploaded?

No. Your browser reads the PDF and builds the new file on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.

Why is the extracted file so much smaller?

The new PDF only contains what its pages need: their text, fonts and images. Pictures used only on pages you left out aren't included. Quality is the same as the original.
