Hourly to salary formula
Annual pay = hourly rate × hours per week × weeks per year.
Weekly pay is rate × hours, and every two weeks is twice that. Monthly and twice-monthly figures are the yearly amount ÷ 12 and ÷ 24, because months aren't a whole number of weeks.
Examples: $25 × 40 × 52 = $52,000. $20 × 37.5 × 52 = $39,000. Part time, $16 × 20 × 52 = $16,640. With two unpaid weeks, $25 × 40 × 50 = $50,000.

Why your real pay may differ
This is a mathematical estimate. Overtime raises it; unpaid time off, a shorter week in a quiet season or a changing schedule lower it. Taxes and deductions come out of every paycheck.
If your hours change from week to week, add up a typical month on the time card calculator and use the average weekly hours here.
Frequently asked questions
How much is $20 an hour per year?
$41,600 for a 40-hour week over 52 weeks: $20 × 40 × 52. That is $3,466.67 a month and $1,600 every two weeks, before tax.
Is there a quick way to estimate it?
Double the hourly rate and add three zeros. $20 an hour is roughly $40,000 a year. The exact figure for a full-time year is a little more, $41,600, because a year has 2,080 working hours, not 2,000.
What is the difference between biweekly and twice a month?
Biweekly is every two weeks, 26 paychecks a year. Twice a month is 24 paychecks, usually on fixed dates. At $25 an hour full time that is $2,000 biweekly or $2,166.67 twice a month for the same $52,000 a year.
Does this include overtime?
No. It assumes the same hours every week at your normal rate. Use the overtime pay calculator for weeks over 40 hours.
Is this after tax?
No, all figures are gross pay. Taxes and deductions such as health insurance or retirement contributions come out before you are paid.
