An iLovePDF alternative that keeps files on your device

iLovePDF is a large, well-known PDF suite. ThatToolSite covers the everyday page tasks without sending your files anywhere. Here is an honest comparison, as of October 2026.

Facts about iLovePDF checked against its own pages on

What iLovePDF does well

  • A very wide set of PDF tools in one place, including OCR, PDF to and from Word, Excel and PowerPoint, PDF/A, editing, redaction and comparing two PDFs.
  • E-signatures through its iLoveSign product, and integrations with Google Drive and Dropbox.
  • Desktop apps for Windows and Mac that, by iLovePDF's own description, process files locally and work offline, plus mobile apps for iOS and Android.
  • Team features on the Business plan, and a stated ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification and GDPR compliance.

How iLovePDF handles your files

On the website, files are processed on iLovePDF's platform. Its security page says processed files are automatically and permanently deleted within two hours, and that signed documents are kept for up to five years for legal reasons.

The free Basic plan has per-tool limits on batch size and file size. For example, the pricing page lists 25 files and 100 MB per task for Merge PDF on the free plan, and marks ad-free use as a Premium feature.

ThatToolSite works differently: each tool runs inside your browser, so the file is read and processed on your own phone or computer and is never sent to a server. There is no signup and no daily limit, because there is no server doing the work.
