Start with the right couple photo

AI apps can keep one face fairly well. Two faces is harder: the app may blend features between you, swap who stands where, or make you look more alike. The uploaded photo makes the biggest difference:

  • Both faces sharp and well lit, at roughly the same distance from the camera.
  • Faces not touching or overlapping. A kiss or cheek-to-cheek selfie gives the app less to copy.
  • One photo with both of you, not two separate selfies, so the app sees your real height difference.
  • Ask your partner before uploading their photo to an AI app.

Poses where hands meet are where apps make the most mistakes: extra fingers, merged hands. Each prompt asks for realistic hands, and you can reply “fix the hands” if they still look wrong.

Keeping both faces right

  • Say who is where. “The person on the left has a beard and glasses; the person on the right has long curly hair.” Naming a feature for each person helps the app keep them apart.
  • Fix one face per reply. “The person on the right looks different. Make their face match the original photo exactly and change nothing else.” Asking for both at once often changes both again.
  • Keep the height difference. Apps like to put two people at the same height. The prompts ask for your real one.
  • Watch for blending. If you start to look like siblings, open a new chat, upload the original photo again and send the prompt with fewer other changes.
  • Expect some retries. Results vary by app and by attempt. Two or three tries to get both faces right is normal.

  1. Attach your couple photo. In Gemini or ChatGPT, use the attach or plus button in the message box.
  2. Paste a prompt and send. Change clothes, colours or the place to suit you.
  3. Refine in small steps. One change per message: the light, then the clothes, then the background.
