The AI photo prompt generator writes a full Diwali prompt from your choices of outfit, setting and light. It only writes the text; the picture is made by the AI app you paste it into.
Build a Diwali promptHow to use these Diwali prompts
- Pick a clear photo. Face in focus and evenly lit, no sunglasses. For a couple or family, use one photo with everyone in it.
- Attach it. In Gemini or ChatGPT, use the attach or plus button in the message box to add the photo.
- Paste a prompt and send. Copy one below. Replace anything in square brackets first.
- Refine in the same chat. Ask for one change at a time, such as “warmer light” or “fewer diyas”.
Results differ between apps, between versions of the same app and even between two tries of the same prompt. If the first image is close, a short follow-up message usually works better than rewriting the whole prompt.
Solo Diwali portrait prompts
Each prompt asks the app to keep your face and change only the clothes, setting and light. Swap the outfit words for what you would really wear: a lehenga, a sherwani, a simple cotton kurta.
Courtyard with rangoli
Using the uploaded photo, create a Diwali evening portrait of me. Keep my face exactly as in the photo: same features, face shape, skin tone and age, with no beautifying. I wear a silk kurta or saree in deep maroon and gold and stand beside a flower-petal rangoli ringed with lit clay diyas. Warm diya glow from below, soft golden bokeh behind. Photorealistic, natural skin texture, realistic hands, no text or watermarks. Aspect ratio 4:5.
Balcony with fairy lights
Using the uploaded photo, place me on a balcony strung with warm fairy lights and marigold garlands on Diwali night. Keep my face exactly as in the photo: same features, face shape, skin tone and age, with no beautifying. Festive outfit in emerald green, a few diyas on the railing, city lights blurred in the distance. Photorealistic, natural skin texture, realistic hands, no text or watermarks. Aspect ratio 4:5.
Lighting a diya, close-up
Using the uploaded photo, create a close Diwali portrait of me lighting a clay diya held in both hands, the small flame lighting my face from below with a soft fill light so my face is not too dark. Keep my face exactly as in the photo: same features, face shape, skin tone and age, with no beautifying. Dark warm background with out-of-focus lamps. Photorealistic, natural skin texture, realistic hands, no text or watermarks. Aspect ratio 4:5.
Rooftop at dusk, for stories
Using the uploaded photo, create a full-length Diwali photo of me on a rooftop at dusk, wearing a festive outfit in jewel tones, with rows of diyas along the edge and small fireworks far away in the sky, never near me. Keep my face exactly as in the photo: same features, face shape, skin tone and age, with no beautifying. Photorealistic, natural skin texture, realistic hands, no text or watermarks. Aspect ratio 9:16.
Diwali couple and family prompts
Group photos are harder for AI apps than solo portraits, because every extra face is another chance to drift. Upload one photo where everyone is facing the camera, rather than separate selfies, and tell the app how many people there are.
Couple seated by the rangoli
Using the uploaded photo of two people, create a Diwali portrait of them sitting side by side on floor cushions next to a bright rangoli and lit diyas. Keep both faces exactly as in the photo, with the same features, skin tones and ages, and do not add anyone. Coordinated but different festive outfits in red and gold, relaxed smiles, warm low light. Photorealistic, natural skin texture, realistic hands, no text or watermarks. Aspect ratio 4:5.
Couple with hanging lanterns
Using the uploaded photo of two people, create a candid Diwali photo of them laughing under hanging paper lanterns on a terrace at night. Keep both faces exactly as in the photo, with the same features, skin tones and ages, and do not add anyone. One stands slightly behind the other, natural hand placement, festive clothes in deep blue and gold, golden bokeh. Photorealistic, natural skin texture, realistic hands, no text or watermarks. Aspect ratio 4:5.
Family in the living room
Using the uploaded family photo, create a Diwali family portrait in a decorated living room with marigold garlands, a rangoli on the floor and diyas on a side table. There are [number] people; keep every face, height and age exactly as in the photo and do not add or remove anyone. Coordinated, non-matching festive outfits. Photorealistic, natural skin texture, realistic hands, no text or watermarks. Aspect ratio 4:5.
Family lighting diyas together
Using the uploaded family photo, create a warm Diwali photo of the family lighting a row of diyas on a doorstep. The adults hold the flames; the children hold marigold garlands, well away from the flames. Keep every face and age exactly as in the photo, no extra people. Photorealistic, natural skin texture, realistic hands, no text or watermarks. Aspect ratio 3:4.
90s family album Diwali
Using the uploaded photo, make it look like a Diwali family snapshot from the 1990s: 35mm colour film, on-camera flash, slightly faded print colours, simple string lights and diyas, era-appropriate festive clothes. Keep every face exactly as in the photo. Realistic, not cartoonish, no date stamp or text. Aspect ratio 4:5.
Getting diya and rangoli light right
- Diya light comes from below. Real lamp light is low, warm and small. Ask for it, but also ask for “a soft fill light on the face”, or your face can end up dark or deep orange.
- Protect your skin tone. Warm light can shift skin colour. Adding “keep my real skin tone” helps more than asking for “glowing skin”, which tends to smooth and lighten.
- Keep the rangoli simple. Apps draw a plain circular design or a flower-petal rangoli well; fine symmetrical patterns often come out uneven. Say where it sits: “on the floor in front of me, partly in frame”.
- Fireworks far away. Fireworks next to people tend to look pasted on, and sparklers near faces look unsafe. Put them in the distant sky.
- Pick the ratio for where it goes. 4:5 suits an Instagram post, 9:16 a story or WhatsApp status. Gemini and ChatGPT treat the ratio as a request, so crop afterwards if needed.
When the result looks off
- The face changed. Reply: “Keep my face exactly as in the original photo; change only the clothes and background.” The guide to keeping your face the same has more fixes.
- Everything is orange. Reply: “Make the light more neutral and keep natural skin colour.”
- Too much jewellery or gold. Name what you want instead: “small gold earrings only”.
- Writing appeared. Apps sometimes add “Happy Diwali” in garbled letters. Reply “remove all text” and add your own greeting in a photo editor.
Build your own Diwali prompt
In the AI photo prompt generator, pick the Diwali theme, then choose One person, Couple or Family or group. Every field is filled in for you and can be changed, and Surprise me suggests other outfits and settings in the same theme.
