The AI photo prompt generator writes a full garba or dandiya prompt from your choice of outfit, setting and light. It only writes the text; the picture is made by the AI app you paste it into.
Build a Navratri promptHow to use these Navratri prompts
- Pick a clear photo. Face in focus and evenly lit, no sunglasses. For a couple or group, use one photo with everyone in it.
- Attach it. In Gemini or ChatGPT, use the attach or plus button in the message box to add the photo.
- Paste a prompt and send. Copy one below. Replace anything in square brackets first, like the colour or the number of people.
- Refine in the same chat. Ask for one change at a time, such as “more movement in the skirt” or “warmer lights”.
Results differ between apps, between versions of the same app and even between two tries of the same prompt. If the first image is close, a short follow-up message usually works better than starting again.
Garba and dandiya prompts, in motion
Navratri photos look best when they show the dance, not just the outfit. These prompts ask for a moment of movement: a twirl, a step, sticks meeting on the beat. Swap the outfit words for what you really wear, from a heavy chaniya choli to a simple cotton kurta.
Mid-twirl at a garba night
Using the uploaded photo, create a photo of me mid-twirl at a garba night. Keep my face exactly as in the photo: same features, face shape, skin tone and age, with no beautifying. I wear a bright embroidered chaniya choli with mirror work; the skirt flares out in a full circle. Colourful festival lights and other dancers softly blurred behind. Fast shutter, sharp face, a little motion in the fabric. Photorealistic, natural skin texture, realistic hands, no text or watermarks. Aspect ratio 4:5.
Dandiya pose with sticks crossed
Using the uploaded photo, create a dandiya night portrait of me holding two decorated dandiya sticks crossed in front of me, smiling, mid-step. Keep my face exactly as in the photo: same features, face shape, skin tone and age, with no beautifying. Traditional festive clothes in red, yellow and green, oxidised silver jewellery, string lights overhead at an open-air venue. Photorealistic, natural skin texture, realistic hands, no text or watermarks. Aspect ratio 4:5.
Mirror-work close-up
Using the uploaded photo, create a close Navratri portrait of me in a mirror-work outfit, the small mirrors catching coloured festival light. Keep my face exactly as in the photo: same features, face shape, skin tone and age, with no beautifying. Shallow depth of field, warm and colourful bokeh behind, a calm proud expression. Photorealistic, natural skin texture, realistic hands, no text or watermarks. Aspect ratio 4:5.
Kediyu and turban for men
Using the uploaded photo, create a garba night portrait of me in a traditional kediyu with a colourful bandhani turban and dupatta, one arm raised mid-clap. Keep my face exactly as in the photo: same features, face shape, skin tone and age, with no beautifying. Lit-up garba ground at night, dancers blurred behind, festive mood. Photorealistic, natural skin texture, realistic hands, no text or watermarks. Aspect ratio 4:5.
Couple and group garba prompts
Garba is danced together, so group shots matter. They're also the hardest for AI apps: every extra face is another chance to drift. Upload one photo where everyone faces the camera, and say how many people there are.
Couple dandiya, sticks touching
Using the uploaded photo of two people, create a dandiya photo of them facing each other, their dandiya sticks touching mid-beat, both laughing. Keep both faces exactly as in the photo, with the same features, skin tones and ages, and do not add anyone. Coordinated but different garba outfits in royal blue, pink and silver; string lights and a blurred crowd behind. Photorealistic, natural skin texture, realistic hands, no text or watermarks. Aspect ratio 4:5.
Friends in a garba circle
Using the uploaded group photo, create a wide photo of the group dancing garba together in a circle under festival lights. There are [number] people; keep every face, height and age exactly as in the photo and do not add or remove anyone. Bright bandhani outfits, joyful candid moment, motion in the skirts and dupattas. Photorealistic, natural skin texture, realistic hands, no text or watermarks. Aspect ratio 16:9.
Family at the pandal
Using the uploaded family photo, create a Navratri family portrait in front of a decorated pandal with marigold garlands and soft lamp light. Keep every face and age exactly as in the photo, no extra people. Festive outfits in coordinated, non-matching colours; the children hold small dandiya sticks. Photorealistic, natural skin texture, realistic hands, no text or watermarks. Aspect ratio 4:5.
Dressing for the nine colours of Navratri
In many places, especially Maharashtra and Gujarat, each of the nine days has its own colour, and people dress in it. The order changes every year because it follows the weekday each day falls on, so check this year's list from your local calendar or temple before you start. Then use one prompt for all nine days and change only the colour.
One prompt for every day's colour
Using the uploaded photo, create a Navratri portrait of me dressed entirely in [colour]: a [colour] chaniya choli or kurta with matching dupatta and simple jewellery. Keep my face exactly as in the photo: same features, face shape, skin tone and age, with no beautifying. Background in soft complementary tones with festival lights and a hint of a garba ground. Keep the outfit colour true and strong, not washed out. Photorealistic, natural skin texture, realistic hands, no text or watermarks. Aspect ratio 4:5.
Nine-colour collage
Using the uploaded photo, create a 3 by 3 grid of nine small portraits of me, each in a different festive outfit colour, one for each day of Navratri: [list the nine colours in order]. Keep my face exactly as in the photo: same features, face shape, skin tone and age, with no beautifying. Same pose and lighting in every square so the colours are the only change. No text or numbers in the image. Photorealistic, natural skin texture, realistic hands, no text or watermarks. Aspect ratio 1:1.
A tip for the collage: AI apps sometimes repeat or mix colours across a grid. If that happens, make the nine portraits one at a time with the first prompt and put them together in a collage app instead.
Making the dance look real
- Sharp face, moving fabric. Ask for “fast shutter, sharp face, a little motion in the fabric”. A fully frozen twirl looks posed; too much blur hides your face.
- Name the steps, not just the mood. “Mid-twirl”, “one arm raised mid-clap” or “sticks touching mid-beat” give the app a real moment to draw, which looks far more natural than “dancing happily”.
- Two sticks, two hands. Dandiya sticks are a common source of extra or melted hands. Say “one stick in each hand” and check the hands before you post.
- Keep the crowd soft. Ask for other dancers “softly blurred behind”. Sharp faces in the background invite strangers who look odd up close.
- Mirror work needs light. Small mirrors only sparkle when there's coloured light to reflect. Ask for festival lights in front of you as well as behind.
If your face changed, reply: “Keep my face exactly as in the original photo; change only the clothes and background.” The guide to keeping your face the same has more fixes.
