Black Friday is the day after US Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday of November, so Black Friday falls between November 23 and 29.
Retailers in the UK, Canada, Australia, India and elsewhere use the same date, even where there is no Thanksgiving, and many start their sales a week or more before.

Why is it called Black Friday?
The name was used by Philadelphia police in the 1960s for the crowds and traffic on the day after Thanksgiving. The idea that it is when shops go "into the black" came later.
Why does the live clock show one day less than the days count?
The days count is calendar days: tomorrow is 1 day away. The clock counts real time to midnight at the start of Black Friday, so with Black Friday two days away it shows 1 day and some hours. Both are right; they answer slightly different questions.
