How to compress an image to 30 KB

  1. Add your photo. Drop it on the box above, choose it from your device, or paste it.
  2. Leave the limit on 30 KB. It's already typed into Other size. Change it if your form asks for something different.
  3. Check and download. The gauge shows the new size against the limit. Use Compare to check the quality, then download.

Who needs a 30 KB image

Bank and recruitment forms often want the photo between 20 and 50 KB. The IBPS PO/MT-XVI notification (30 June 2026) is one: photo 20 to 50 KB, 200 × 230 pixels preferred (checked 10 October 2026). A 30 KB file sits well inside that range, far enough above the minimum and below the maximum that neither can catch it out.

From a phone photo, 30 KB usually leaves a face photo around 450 to 600 pixels wide, more than enough to look clear on the form. Watch the minimum if you also resize to the preferred 200 × 230 pixels: a photo that small is often under 20 KB even at high quality, and then it's too small for the form.

Tips for a sharper result

Crop to passport shape before compressing, with the Passport photo maker or Crop image. Then the 30 KB is spent on your face rather than the room behind you, and the tool has less reason to shrink the photo.

If the face looks soft at 30 KB and the form allows up to 50 KB, you have room to spare: try the 40 KB page. Keep the signature separate, because forms that take a 20 to 50 KB photo often want the signature much smaller.

Frequently asked questions

The form says 20 KB to 50 KB. Is 30 KB right?

Yes. 30 KB is comfortably inside the range. The tool keeps the file just under 30,000 bytes, so it's well above 20 KB and well below 50 KB however the form counts a KB.

Is 30 KB enough for a clear passport-size photo?

Yes, for viewing on screen and on an admit card. At 30 KB a face photo is usually 450 pixels wide or more, which is larger than most forms display it.

Can I use the 30 KB setting for my signature too?

Check the signature range separately. IBPS, for example, asks for a signature of 10 to 20 KB, so a 30 KB signature would be rejected. Use the 15 KB page for that.

Why is my 30 KB photo so much smaller in pixels than the original?

A 12-megapixel photo can't fit in 30 KB at full size without turning into blocks, so the tool lowers the pixel size as well as the quality. The new width and height are shown under the file.
